What To Look For
Similar to scaled Hariwake, the bright, platinum-white base color of Kikusui is very important. There should be no yellowish tint to the base white, and very few or no blemishes. Likewise, the orange patterns should be deep and vibrant, and of a consistent color and hue across the entire body.
Also similar to Hariwake, the ideal Kikusui has a clean, blemish-free platinum-colored head, with no orange intruding down onto the head. However, if the orange comes down to cover a portion of the head (but not the entire head) this by no means ruins a Kikusui.
The fins should be solid and of the same metallic-white color as the body. There may or may not be patches of orange starting at the base of each pectoral fin, and spreading out across a portion of each fin.
